About BottleLens

Wine shops list hundreds of bottles and tell you little about which are good. BottleLens rates every wine on sale in the shops it knows, so you can compare quality and price in one place.

The data comes from people using the BottleLens browser extension. When it reads a shop’s wine list, the wines, prices and stock it finds are added to this site, so the more people shop with it, the more complete and current BottleLens gets.

Scores are averages of ratings from wine drinkers, out of 5. We only show a score when we’re confident it belongs to the bottle the shop is selling. “Best value” compares how far a wine scores above an ordinary 3.0 with what it costs, counting price in steps rather than in currency units, so a superb $70 bottle can beat a decent $20 one.

Prices and stock change. Always check the shop’s own page before you buy, and tell us at hello@bottlelens.com when something looks wrong.
